Botkier launches “Howard Street”.

Posted in Uncategorized by Gregory on March 30, 2010

Botkier has just launched a new  family of collectable handbags , the  “Howard Street” collection. With five options in this line to choose from.

Voulue handbagsThe classic black bag accompanies most leading fashion houses, but Botkier have put this gem into several “skins”. The artist Andy Warhol  was the inspirtion behind this bright snake print creation with black tassels.

Voulue handbagsI’m not  sure where Andy Warhol fits into this design, I will have do some more research and I will let you know if I find out.

Voulue handbags This “Cement” lambskin with dimensions of  14″ x6.75″ x 7.5″   (5.5″ handle with 29.5″ shoulder strap) offers plenty of space for about town bag . With vertical zippers and tassel pulls, it gives a lot of style.

Voulue handbags“Espresso” lambskin with a  price tag of $465 , (about £186.00) this is my personal favourite, a classical subdued number, which to me, would be one for everyday use.

Voulue handbagsFinally on Howard Street is the Magenta, Monica Botkier the downtown New Yorker, has worked her magic once again for those that like to carry the eye catching member of the collection, and what do you think girls…and boys, dont be shy, lets us know what you think. Voulue will bring you more from this seasons collection soon.

Street artist and Anya

Posted in Uncategorized by Gregory on March 29, 2010

Anya Hindmarch has teamed up with Ben Eine, a street artist, though some may criticise the title of “artist” because of his venues of spraying  on shop shutters…. perhaps the shop owners dont mind!! Eine’s work has been exhibited in New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo and all over Europe ( I will assume his works are photographs)

I wonder if Anya will allow her shutters on her Dover Street Market shop to become a “work of art”. Could be an investment Anya!

Anya states ” Eine specialises in producing huge letters on shop fronts across London, some single letters, others wry combinations serving as a reminder that writing is art.”

With this Tote which has “unavailable” printed on the reverse, you can broadcast your availability all across the town; depending on your mood each day. This Clementine coloured tote will illuminate your prescence at a price of £145.00 for a canvas tote.

London based and accomplished photographer Steve Cotton has a collection of Ben Eine’s street art,why not take a look at what’s around your urban centres with Art of the State.

With four designs to choose from and the irony of the comment at the bottom of the poster…perhaps you won’t be prosecuted for carrying one of these AH totes.

Fossil…a modern one…or not!

Posted in Uncategorized by Gregory on March 21, 2010

These “fossils” were created in less time than any conventional ones, and you will agree that these are more colourful and practical. Here are a few of their Spring designs for you to consider.

This large quilted leather satchel, called the “Corrine” sails home at £128. The strong stitching, rivets and silver coloured chain link fastenings does give the feeling of strength and longevity.

For  even more flash of colour, then this “Maddox” patchwork will add a little jizz to your outfit. This is a retro style from the late seventies, I still have a photograph of my Aunty carrying a suede version at this.

“Reid” velvet cross body bag with a paisley patterned body. With complimentary coloured carrying straps add to an overall pleasing design.

“Fifty-Four Maddie” Tote (£215)

“Fifty-Four Maddie” offers a lovely interior to go with its colour block asymmetrical design.

PerhapsFossil are living up to its brand name with these  retro designs. What do you think about these?

Red or Dead

Posted in Uncategorized by Gregory on March 15, 2010

British fashion mavericks Red or Dead,  come from the same business portfolio of some of the greatest international sports, outdoor and fashion brands globally e.g. Speedo, Berghaus, Brasher, Ellesse, and Mitre.

Read or Dead takes an alternative perspective on fashion, turning any ideas that price makes a designer piece, on its head.

Red or Dead was started by Wayne and Geraldine Hemingway back in 1982. From a market stall in Camden Market and before they knew it they had 16 stalls including a stall at Kensington Market .

The public liked Red or Dead even though the rest of the industry didn’t and at first Red or Dead was not allowed to be part of London Fashion Week. Red or Dead started doing catwalks in 1989 with the Space Baby collection. In the mid 1990s Red or Dead won Street Style Designer of the Year for three years on the run.

According to their literature they have  …”Phenomenal brand awareness is equally high amongst the young and the old. Its target consumer is someone who likes to be an individual, non-conformist, willing to push barriers and challenge the norm”.

Is that you? Do you push the barriers with your fashion statements, could Red or Dead do it for you?

“Above all, Red or Dead is a brand that is for everyone; a “mindset” not an “age set”.
Above and below are the “Trickster” range, we viewed these at Birmingham’s 2010 Moda exhibition. Our eyes did lead us to these handbags first. We were attracted  by their design and prescence on the display stand. What was even more suprising was the affordable price for you. They were labelled as mavericks, because of their stance to make fashion more affordable and we can see why.
Below, is the Zahara range, with a price tag of about £60 that’s very nice! and they come in a choice of three colours which one is your favourite?

The “Colorado” range, also looks good, especially this little red number starting at £40 and the clutch below at £25, both styles come in the red or blue colours.
Tell us what you think of “Red or Dead” on our Voulue Facebook page, if we get a favourable response we will consider stocking these at the Voulue Boutique.

Giuseppe Zanotti

Posted in Uncategorized by Gregory on March 11, 2010

Returning to Via Montenapoleone, this time we will visit the Milanese designer Giuseppe Zanotti. He is well known for his entourage of celebrity followers such as Beyonce and Ashanti. This venue must surely be the height of hedonism for all fashion lovers.

Zanotti, is an acclaimed footware designer, is now launching himself into the world of handbags, and we have a few images from his inaugural collection.

“Love”, are double platform peep toe pumps, with song lyrics from “Because the Night” , gently make an under estimated statement! Perhaps leaving the price tag on display may be more of a statement at £ 620.00.

Added embellishment to the shoe gives a matching twin set with the handbag, with a heavyly studded shoulder strap.Could you manage the 4.5 inch heel? The khaki-colored canvas is embellished with pearl and rhinestone-decorated flashes with a purely army look. Guiseppe reccommends that you wear the “Olivy”shoes and handbag  with a khaki-coloured combat outfit!

Below we start with a black suede multi studded clutch, with a price of £1005, the £5 is probably an Italian tax! A little lighter on the pocket is the satin with crystal “Rainbow”clutch at £750.

We do like the the matching shoe (£620), or if you wish, you can have a matching collection of footware, as the “Rainbow” range comes along in  sandels or ballet pumps.

Radley in a deckchair

Posted in Uncategorized by Gregory on March 9, 2010

I have found Radley’s picture bags to be one of the sweetest accessories on the market, and this seasons bag is another thumbs up. With the worm devouring seagull to add a little interest to the scene, and the Union Jack flying on the sandcastle, does bring back  childhood memories of family holidays at Barmouth!!

With this months free draw being a LG Embroided  Bows Anna, and the team has taken a look at their new collection. The over riding theme is again the shop frontage scenes. Leading the range is The Columbia Road  Ethel tote (£225)  which does catch ones eye .

I wonder what the rental fee is on the flat? This is a spring tote to enjoy, stone coloured background with a splash of spring colour. This is an East London street scene with printing, embroidery, appliqué, felt flowers, glass bead and paper signs. If nothing else its a feast for the senses.

Do you like the small Anna bags with the street scenes? Here is LG’s newest store on her property portfolio, the “Souvenir shop” I think this one will sell extremely well in her Japanese outlets.

If you are into collecting these handbags, we do have a “Poodle Parlour Anna ” for sale at our Voulue Boutique. There are also several other overstocked and new handbags for you to choose from.

Judith Leiber

Posted in Uncategorized by Gregory on March 7, 2010

Do you love to add a little sparkle to your handbag collection? Then just take a look at these from Judith Leiber.

A designer that has a novelty range to her collection, certainly makes your head turn and makes you ask the question “Would I dare carry that?” Well, that is of course a personal choice. One of her latest pieces is that of Ganesh.

GaneshAt only 6.25 ” high by 5″ wide, this is decorated with Austrian Crystal and a price tag of  around £3750, you wouldn’t want to leave this on a train!

Though for cuteness rather than novelty, we do love the “Hello Kitty” collection, with its silver rounded top handle and Austrian crystal embellishment. And a snip at a little over £2660!

This would be a wonderful Spring bowlingbag, but at the price it would never leave the house!! My next choice would be from the Exotic range, an anaconda Isabella from the 45th Anniversary collection. With an  intricate antique bronze flip up closure, mounted large Austrian crystal.

As for the evening collection from JL, the Voulue team found it a very hard choice between the “Midnight Garden ”

With its lack of crystal giving it understated, but none the less a quality evening couture handbag and the sparkle of  the “Streamline”.

The “Streamline” is a satin box handbag with crystal patterning on the sides, so which one! And wouldn’t we be fortunate to have the choice between these exquisite bags to accompany us to the pub on a friday night.
